In Java, inheritance allows a class to inherit properties and methods from another. There are four types: single inheritance (one class inherits from another), multilevel inheritance (a class inherits from another, which in turn inherits from another), hierarchical inheritance (multiple classes inherit from a single class), and hybrid inheritance (a combination of two or more types).
