For filmmakers who do not have the support of the biggest studios or streaming networks behind them, getting funding for their films can often be an uphill task. Usually, any kind of film has to be funded by either the filmmaker or producer, or an external body such as a filming institute that provides grants to up and coming producers and filmmakers. Indie films will often require the funding of the latter to actualise a project.
