Inconel alloys are resistant to oxidation and corrosion, making them suitable for harsh environments under high temperature and high pressure. When the Inconel alloy is heated, a thick and stable oxide layer will be passivated on the surface of the alloy to protect the inside of the alloy from corrosion. Inconel alloys can maintain good mechanical properties over a wide temperature range, which is beyond the reach of common engineering metals such as steel and aluminum.
