Also known as maternal serum screening, the double marker test is part of a more comprehensive checkup, called the first-trimester screening. This belongs to the category of predictive tests, indicating the chances of chromosomal abnormality. It is a useful test for pregnant women to check the health of their foetus as it can help detect any neurological disorder such as Down Syndrome or Edward’s Syndrome in the unborn baby.
