Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy: An FDA-approved Treatment Approach

Natalia Smith30 Nov, 2023Health

As a therapeutic approach, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) requires no introduction. It's one of the leading examples of treatment harnessing the power of pure oxygen. It's been particularly effective for life-threatening conditions where bodily tissues face hypoxemia. Prominent examples include decompression sickness, carbon monoxide poisoning, and non-healing wounds. Regrettably, HBOT has been subsequently introduced and withdrawn in the field of medical science. The reasons, however, aren't clear. In most cases where the use of hyperbaric chambers has been effective, the lack of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval was a roadblock. This post discusses the implications revolving around HBOT and FDA approval.
