Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is a noninvasive procedure during which patients comfortably lie inside a hyperbaric chamber and breathe 100% oxygen, while the pressure inside the chamber is slowly increased. The therapy last as little as 3 minutes before the pressure is returned to normal level. In certain circumstances, it represents the primary treatment modality, while in others it is an adjunct to surgical or pharmacologic interventions.
