HSG47 is the guidebook provided by the HSE which explains what to do before beginning digging. At Sygma Solutions we provide HSG47 training in the use of the CAT and Genny, which are the tools mostly used for locating and identifying underground services. Used on its? own, the CAT (Cable Avoidance Tool) can locate certain services but is far better used in conjunction with the signal generator (Genny). Indeed, we believe that the two should always be used together.
