How to Remove Duplicates in Microsoft Excel

If you are editing an important or work spreadsheet, make a backup first. It could save time and heartache should something go wrong. Both the finding and removing parts of this tutorial are fairly safe for normal use as they use built-in tools. However, more complex spreadsheets containing formulas or filters already in place might cause you some headaches. Select the range of cells that has duplicate values you want to remove. Tip: Remove any outlines or subtotals from your data before trying to remove duplicates. Click Data > Remove Duplicates, and then Under Columns, check or uncheck the columns where you want to remove the duplicates. Click OK.
