How to Protect Your Trees from Wood-Boring Beetles in Central Texas

The recommended prevention and treatment methods are generally effective against most species of wood-boring beetles found in Central Texas. When beetle activity is first detected, I typically recommend and perform both preventative and curative treatments to give the tree the best chance at recovery. Looking ahead, as the Emerald Ash Borer becomes more common in our region, trunk injections with Emamectin Benzoate will become an essential defense. However, for most other beetle species, such injections are not typically required at this time.
