Chlamydia is primarily diagnosed through a urine test to look for the bacteria or a swab test of the discharge of the cervix or vagina. If the infection is suspected to have been acquired via oral or anal sex, then a swab would be taken of the throat or rectum to test the sample. Blood tests are also available, but are not routinely used to diagnose Chlamydia.
