If a critical component of Windows isn't running properly, it can cause an error. This error may be called "Critical Process DiED" with stop code 0x000000EF. (See Image 1). The blue screen may be caused by a corrupt or malicious program, driver error, or a bad application. A critical process died Windows 10 error can cause the system to get stuck in a booting loop and even crash.
