QuickBooks automatically retrieves the newest program updates as long as QuickBooks is running. Intuit, the developer of QuickBooks, issues these updates to repair bugs or provide performance improvements. However, if the web connection in your office has limited bandwidth, you'll save bandwidth by turning off the automated updates as long as you're not using QuickBooks Pro Plus, QuickBooks Premier Plus or other QuickBooks subscription plan.
