How to Decorate Your Room with Large Area Rugs

Large area rugs have a massive effect in a room, especially when the colors are bright and the design is busy. If you don't have any furniture yet, start with the rug. Then choose textiles that will complement the rug. Instead of arranging multiple tiny rugs, use one large area rug to make a space appear larger. Place the large area rug on all sides of the room, within 12 inches of the walls, or in the middle, several inches away from all the furniture. If you don't have a large rug, wait until you can buy one before putting any out.
