There are clear regulations about puncture repairs in the UK. Only tyres with damage in the centre of three-quarters of the tread up to a size of 6 mm in diameter can be patched. Repairs to the sidewall or shoulder area of the tyre are not allowed. Professional puncture repairs performed using the plug-patch technique comply with BS AU 159.
