How Indian Laws Contribute to Sustainability

India has been a global leader in sustainable development for over two decades. India has consistently been a leader in addressing climate change, energy, food, water and sanitation, and urban development issues. I8ndia?s progress in sustainable development has been recognized by the United Nations also. India has the world?s third-largest population and is projected to have the world?s largest population by 2100. India?s population is projected to reach 1.5 billion by 2050 and 2.7 billion by 2100. To meet the challenges of a growing population, India has developed a comprehensive family planning program, which has helped to reduce the country?s population growth rate from 2.5 percent to 1.3 percent between 1990 and 2010.
