How important is corporate environmental responsibility?

There are a number of facets of corporate environmental responsibility. Broadly, it can be classified into the domains of environmental management, community uplifting and sustainability policy. The corporations which are able to distribute equal focus in all these facets receive appreciation from the people and eventually earn a good deal of market goodwill. It has been observed that often, if not always, corporates take a few unnecessary decisions to fulfil their responsibility. Those unnecessary decisions might not be actually beneficial for the environment. In fact, they might result in more damage to the environment instead of solving its problems.
