History of birthstones

Modern birthstones ? apart from the ancient traditions of various cultures, in 1912 the Association of American Jewelers, currently named Jewelers of America, collaboratively adopted a standard list of birthstones for each month. This list of birthstones keeps updated from time to time by the members of the association. The most recent modification was done in 2021 by the Japanese industry association, where they added 10 new types of birthstones.
