The henna tree is native to the Indian subcontinent as well as South East Asia. The leaves of the henna tree are dried and churned into a fine powder. This powder is used on the scalp, for healthy hair and also on the palms of ladies as it leaves a reddish tint after wash. Intricate designs are culled out on the palms which look very beautiful once washed off. Henna is also used in auspicious occasions. Despite these usages, henna also has herbal healing properties which can be deployed in the form of attar.
