Graves disease, also known as toxic diffuse goiter, is an autoimmune disease. The clinical manifestations are not limited to the thyroid, but a multi-system syndrome, including hypermetabolic syndrome, diffuse goiter, ocular signs, skin lesions, and thyroid acropathy. The manifestations other than thyroid are infiltrating endocrine exophthalmos, which can exist alone without the hypermetabolic disease.
