Govardhan Puja takes place the day after Diwali, on the fourth day of the five-day Hindu celebration. There may be a day between Diwali and Govardhan Puja on rare occasions. It occurs on the first lunar day of the Shukla Paksha (bright fortnight of the moon) in the month of Kartik, according to the Hindu calendar. It's an important component of the Diwali celebrations.
