A thick layer of tread is just like a protective wall against punctures. A sharp object has to use more force to pierce the tread rubber. On the other hand, it is easy to damage the tread if it has a smooth surface. However, puncture may take place in the presence of tread as well but we should not increase the chances by driving on bald tyres. As you see, driving on bald tyres is not a good approach. You must replace your old tyres with new Goodyear Tyres Swanscombe whenever you see the signs of tread wear.
