Vijay Optica started in 1953 as Wadles Ltd., on Moi Avenue, Mombasa, in the Fontanella Vijay Optica started in 1953 as Wadles Ltd., on Moi Avenue, Mombasa, in the Fontanella Restaurant Arcade. The name changed to Lens Ltd., after a few years. It was then bought by East African Optical and the name changed to East African Optical Ltd. It was in March 1969 that Mr. Vijay Dhutia (current Director) bought the business and changed the name to Vijay Optica.
