AWS IAM (Identity and Access Management) is a web service provided by Amazon Web Services (AWS) that enables customers to securely control access to AWS resources for their users. IAM allows you to manage access to AWS services and resources, including EC2 instances, S3 buckets, and RDS databases, by creating and managing AWS identities and policies. IAM allows you to create and manage users, groups, and roles, each with different levels of access to AWS resources. Users are individual entities with unique credentials and can be assigned to one or more groups, while groups are collections of users with similar permissions. Roles are similar to users but are not associated with a specific identity and are instead assumed by other AWS services or users. IAM also allows you to create and manage policies, which define permissions for AWS resources. Policies are written in JSON and can be attached to users, groups, or roles to specify what actions they can perform on specific resources.
