Form T1135 - All You Need to Know

Johnalexander2228 Aug, 2023Finance

The case of Moore v the Queen brought attention to the issue of penalties imposed by the CRA for unintentional non-filing of Form T1135. One of the most recent cases involved an employee based in Montreal who had worked at GE Capital Canada from 2003 to 2016. During his time at GE, he participated in the company's share purchase plan, gradually acquiring shares of GE Canada's parent company, a U.S. corporation. These shares were obtained through regular payroll deductions with contributions from his employer.
