To participate in the PNP, applicants must first apply to the province or territory where they wish to settle and be nominated. They then need to complete a federal immigration application and undergo a medical examination and security clearance. The PNP process is separate from the Federal Express Entry system, but successful PNP nominees may receive additional points under the Express Entry system, increasing their chances of being invited to apply for permanent residency.
