The inner thigh adductors, the outside thigh quadriceps, and the back of the thigh hamstrings are the most common sources of thigh pain. Because they cross the hip and knee joints, are used to straighten and bend the legs, and are susceptible to injury when running or leaping. In other activities, the hamstrings and quadriceps are commonly the most painful muscles to strain.
