An equity fund is a type of mutual fund that invests primarily in stocks of various companies. The performance of the fund is directly impacted by any fluctuations in the stock market. The price that the investor pays for each unit of the stock fund is called as the Net Asset Value (NAV) of the fund and the change in price of these shares determines the gains or losses of the investor.
