EPR, also known as Extended Producer Responsibility, extends a manufacturer?s responsibilities beyond the factory gates to the management of their goods? end-of-life after they have been discarded by the end-user. According to a gazette published by the MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT, FOREST AND CLIMATE CHANGE on 23rd March 2016, Extended Producer Responsibility means the responsibility of any producer of electrical or electronic equipment, for channelization of e-waste to ensure environmentally sound management of such waste.
