Continuing from the previous movie, Callie, along with her children Trevor and Phoebe, and her new partner Gary, have relocated to New York from Oklahoma. The story begins with Nadeem selling his late grandmother's heirlooms, including a rusty orb, to Ray, who now runs an antique shop and has his own YouTube channel. Little do they know, the orb contains a powerful spectre with icy powers that once almost destroyed the Earth. This spectre is determined to return. The plot also involves the Ghostbusters' vault overflowing with ghostly apparitions and a budding relationship between Phoebe and a ghostly emo girl, hinting at a gay romance.
