E-invoices follow a format that has been specified by the government. The invoice data (deliverables and receivables) is in a format that enables automatic importation into the buyer's organization's payment system. Buyers and sellers can send and receive invoices online via electronic invoicing, or e-invoicing. Companies who send electronic invoices to other companies are subject to this legislation. These invoices are examined by the GSTN, or the Goods and Services Tax Network. The government established the e-invoicing system to guarantee that all businesses across the country transmit invoices to the portal in a standardised, centralised manner.
