EIGRP vs OSPF Whats the Difference?

Pynetlab07 Aug, 2024Education

EIGRP (Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol) and OSPF (Open Shortest Path First) are both used to route data within networks. EIGRP, which is Cisco's proprietary protocol, combines distance vector and link-state features to quickly update routes and converge faster. OSPF, on the other hand, is an open standard used across various vendors and relies solely on link-state information to map out the network and find the best paths. EIGRP is easier to set up in Cisco-only environments, while OSPF provides broader?compatibility.
