The value of early childhood education is universally recognized. Aside from compelling governments to provide free, accessible primary and secondary education, the United Nations Human Rights policies recognizes the need to provide children preparatory and kindergarten education even before they enter primary level. The Merits of Early Childhood Education Considering that it is a globally accepted fact, there has to be substantial merit to the idea of early childhood education. But even then, there seems to be a popular notion that pre-school age around 4-6 years old are not ideal age for formal learning. Accordingly, kids have very high learn curves during this age and formative stages but formal school structures and methods may not be suitable for them. Many educationists however argue that this is precisely the best age to teach them different learning conditions, methods and environment so that they can learn across different settings and not just what they get used to.
