Eales disease is an rare, idiopathic vascular condition primarily affecting the retina that results in inflammation and retinal vessel occlusions, first identified by British ophthalmologist Henry Eales in 1880. Although its exact cause remains unknown, vascular abnormalities and genetic predisposition are thought to play a part. Recognizing symptoms such as blurred vision, floaters and peripheral vision loss is essential for early diagnosis and treatment.
