One of the issues that arise most frequently when dealing with performance horses is how splints will impact their long-term joint health. Splints are a fairly prevalent condition in horses, particularly in young or actively trained horses. While splints are by no means career-ending, they do create some very valid concerns about what their lasting effect will ultimately be on the mobility, comfort, and career life of a horse.
