Sound is a mechanical vibration which travels through an elastic medium, as a variation in the pressure exerted on the particles which comprise it Hewitt, 2015. Sound can be perceived as pleasant or unpleasant, although the boundary that separates music and noise can be very thin and subjective. Most unpleasant sounds are several noise types, and, despite some elements and preferences, pleasant sounds are frequently related to music Hewitt, 2015. However, the task of differentiating different types of music from noise becomes a question of esthetics, outside the scope of this document.
