RTJ Flange Well, the difference is that in RTJ type the Ring (Sometimes referred to as a gasket), and the 2 flanges are THREE DIFFERENT PARTS. ? Flange (Groove). ? Ring. ? Flange (Groove). The benefit of using an RTJ flange and ring is that the gasket is restricted to a groove that has two sealing surfaces. The groove ensures the ring centers itself when the bolts are tightened. The sealing pressure increases when the process pressure increases on these types of flanges. From the above list, we have Three Separate parts. Tongue and groove (T&G) Flange ? But in the case of Tongue and groove, the flange has the ring attached (Referred to as Male or Tongue) and the flange with groove (female).
