Nutrition Webinar: Diet Management for Genetic and Autoimmune-related Causes of Kidney Disease is organized by Dietitian Central. This Course is intended for RDs, DTRs, Health Professionals. As of March 2019, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimated that 37 million people have chronic kidney disease(CKD) worldwide. That is approximately 1 out of 7 individuals with a suspected 9 out of 10 unaware they may have CKD. While Hypertension and Diabetes Mellitus still remain the two leading causes of CKD, we are starting to see an increased prevalence of genetic and autoimmune-related causes such as Lupus, Polycystic Kidney Disease, etc. This is in part due to physiological adaptations of the body as well as drastic changes to lifestyle patterns over the years with decreased physical activity and higher obesity rates.
