Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday launched digital payment solution 'e-Rupi' (e-RUPI). 'e-Rupi' is a cashless and contactless medium for digital payments. 'e-Rupi' has been developed by the National Payments Corporation of India on its UPI platform in collaboration with Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and National Health Authority. Its purpose is to stop the misuse of government welfare schemes. Through this, it will be ensured that the benefit will reach only to the people it is supposed to be reached. It can be transferred to the mobile phone of the beneficiaries in the form of QR code or SMS.
