Damiana is a shrub belongs to family Passifloraceae family mostly found in United States. It is a woody shrub having aromatic flowers having strong spice like odor due to essential oils. It contains beta-sitosterol, apigenin, beta-carotene, tannin, fatty acids, flavanoids, caffeine, etc. It has anxiolytic property due to apigenin. Its extracts has been found to supress aromatase activity.
