When a person goes into cardiac arrest (their heart stops beating), performing CPR correctly could save their life. CPR's main goal is to keep oxygenated blood circulating through a person's body in order to keep their essential organs alive until aid comes. While CPR will not bring the person's heart back to life, it will keep them alive until a defibrillator can be utilized.
