A Cold Storage means a temperature-controlled (at low levels) storage warehouse used to store fresh and/ or frozen perishable fruits or Vegetables, processed meat, Dairy products, spices, Dry fruits, Jaggery, pulses, frozen foods, chemicals and pharmaceutical products. Refrigerated warehousing tends to be more costly, so many manufacturers opt to outsource their cold storage to third-party logistics provider. Cold storage sector is undergoing major growth, with the Government focusing on food preservation. 30% of food that is consumed in developing countries is perishable. Perishability of the product is the reason for high market prices which has pushed the demand for cold storage.
