Traditionally, policies and funding initiatives such as the National Urban Transport Policy (NUTP), Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JnNURM), and the Smart Cities Mission have underscored the importance of Non-Motorised Transport (NMT) infrastructure to address first and last-mile connectivity challenges within multimodal transport systems.
