The Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO), East Zone, Kolkata was started during the year 1967 headed by Assistant Drugs Controller (India). The Zonal office of the CDSCO was initially created to co-coordinate with the various State Drugs Controllers (who are the Licensing Authority under the Act) for uniform implementation and smooth enforcement of the provisions of Chapter IV of the D&C Act and Rules.
