According to a study, THC, a main psychoactive constituent in cannabis alone or combined with nicotine, releases dopamine. Its relationship with behavior in rats during acute and chronic treatments using microdialysis coupled to HPLC determination of dopamine and 3,4-dihydroxyphenylacetic acid (DOPAC). Acute THC administration increased dopamine outflow in the nucleus accumbens (NAc) and striatum while decreased outflow in the prefrontal cortex (PFC). In the PFC, Nicotine increased DOPAC/DA ratio, but not DA levels. There is a requirement for more studies to observe the adverse or beneficial effects of CBD oil and Nicotine interactions.
