Canada Study Visa: IELTS Band Guidelines

To obtain a Canada study visa, international students must demonstrate their English proficiency through IELTS. Most Designated Learning Institutions (DLIs) in Canada expect an overall IELTS score of 6.0 or higher, with no below 5.5 for undergraduate courses. For postgraduate studies, an overall band score of 6.5, with at least 6.0 in each module, is often the standard. The Canadian government uses these scores to evaluate a student’s ability to communicate effectively in English.
