Dried lentils have a fairly long shelf life. They keep for more than 2-3 years in your pantry and remain safe to eat even after. All you have to do is maintain the right conditions. Dried lentils should be stored in a cool, dry place, in a tightly closed container. Although you can wash and freeze dried lentils in the freezer, it won?t do you much good to do so, because you?ll have to cook them once they?re out of the freezer. It is preferable to freeze cooked lentils, as it will save you a lot of time and effort. Can canned lentils be frozen? Sometimes you open a can of lentils, use the amount called for in the recipe, and find that you have enough lentils left over to make a good-sized serving of soup or curry.
