If a defendant has been accused of three or more violent or major felonies in California, he or she will receive a prison sentence of 25 years to life. The law is codified in Section 667 PC of the Penal Code. The Three Strikes Law also extends the custodial sentence for those charged with any crime in California who has two violent or major felony convictions in the past. Under PC 667, second offenders also get a double sentence.
