At the heart of Savannah's faith community Savannah is a rich tapestry of denominations and traditions. From the majestic Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist to vibrant Baptist, Methodist, Pentecostal, and nondenominational congregations, the city is home to a diverse spectrum of religious expressions. African American churches, in particular, have long been cultural and spiritual anchors, providing leadership and advocacy since the time of slavery and throughout the Civil Rights Movement.
