Pant has struggled playing in the middle order, former India cricketer Wasim Jaffer had suggested that the wicketkeeper-batter should open the innings instead of playing down the order. Echoing the same thought, a fan suggested Pant to open for India claiming it would change his fate. As the cricketer was taking selfies with his fans ahead of India?s match against South Africa, a fan was heard saying, ?Bhai opening kar lo, kismat badal jayegi.? To this, Pant just smiled and went past.
