Dr. Chris Carmichael grew up in Lake Forest, Illinois, and along with his twin brother Rob and sister Jennifer, graduated from Lake Forest High School and later earned his AS Biology at College of Lake County, BS Zoology at Eastern Illinois University, MS Biology at Central Michigan University, and later earned his Ph.D. in Biology (Animal Behavior/Molecular Genetics) at The University of Southern Mississippi. In addition to his dog experience, Dr. Carmichael has experience and has published as an academic researcher in the field of animal behavior and has also spent considerable time as a zoo keeper and curatorial advisor at the Brookfield Zoo and Cleveland Metroparks Zoo.
